'Encouragement for All Believers'
If You Can't Clean the Porcelain...
In this ‘dog eat dog’ society we live in, we are led to believe that to become great in our field of work (ministry, career, education), we must promote ourselves at the expense of those ‘higher up the ladder’ than us.

This is a widely accepted philosophy that focuses on ‘Me’ and latches on to the self-orientated, self-absorbed mindset that mankind has so willingly sold out to long ago. Such philosophy is anti-God and is destined to failure.

On the flip side, Jesus has the solution to the selfishness and greed of mankind. “If you want to be great, you must be the servant of all the others.” Matthew 20:26.

When I was the senior pastor at Southern Bay Church, I promoted a culture with this one liner… 'If you can’t clean the porcelain, you can’t have the pulpit.' Too many people expect greatness without servanthood. This is not what Jesus, the Servant of all (Phil 2:5-11) preached. Check this out!

  • “For whoever exalts himself shall be abased, and he who humbles himself shall be exalted.” Luke 14:11
If someone is 'too important' to do the menial, maybe they have a little maturing and growing to do. Jesus even said that if we can't be trusted with little, you certainly won't be trusted with much.

The secret to such servanthood is acting out of a humble attitude not looking for the ‘what’s in it for me’. Whatever you do, do it with the attitude of Jesus.

God bless you heaps as you humbly serve God by serving one another.
