In one week recently, I had the honour of attending 2 funerals of family members. Going to such services always leads me to become quite philosophical about life and where it is leading. After all, it is destined for each of us ‘planet earth dwellers’ to die once and than enter judgement. (Hebrews 9:27)
We only have one chance at life. The week prior, I preached on the Adopted Father and the great example given to us through Joseph, the earthly, adopted father of our Lord Jesus. He was given a short space of time to show Jesus the way of life. It appears that Joseph died fairly young but took his fatherhood responsibilities quite seriously.
Joseph Redeemed his Time.
We are all called to redeem the time. We have no idea how long we have so we must take the opportunity now and when it presents itself, to be a blessing, speak life, love and hope into people’s lives, today.
Even Christians can be caught up in the ‘Blame Game’, fighting and fussing over issues that simply don’t need their input. (2 Thess 3:11 & 1 Tim 5:13) Paul calls these idle people ‘busybodies’ who have nothing better to do with their time. It leads to church politics which is hated by God.
Instead, redeem your time. Don’t waste another second watching down-grading movies, reading Holy Spirit hindering books or surfing the net for addictive and anti-God images that sap you of God’s presence thus dragging you down.
Redeem Your Time! Fill your mind with the Word of God. Pray continually. Build each other up. What do you want said about you when you graduate to glory? If you redeem your time, you will leave a legacy that will etch into eternity and make an eternal difference for generations to come.
Redeem your time starting today.
God bless you as you leave a legacy of eternal significance. Love, Daren
