There are many amazing people of God who we can look towards and see their works of power in the Holy Spirit. We see people used mightily by God for works of healing or incredibly accurate words of knowledge and wisdom. We hear powerful and authoritive preaching and hordes of people responding to the Gospel through evangelists who have the hand of God on their lives. We can stand in awe of such people and think there is no way we will ever be used by God in such a supernatural way.
Don’t give up just yet!
· Step 1...Don’t stand in awe of these gifted people. Honour them but remember, they are merely using the gifts given to them through the Holy Spirit. Yes they have confidence but their confidence is in the glory and power of God to do the miraculous work.
· Step 2...Move in faith. As some act in great power and authority, they can only do so under the unction power given through the Name of Jesus. You too can walk by that same faith in the same living God!
· Step 3...They are men just like you and me. (not gender orientated) James 5:17 says, ‘Elijah was human like us. Yet, when he prayed that it wouldn't rain, no rain fell on the ground for three-and-a-half years.’
When you switch on your TV and are tempted to place a preacher or a miracle worker on a pedestal, think twice. It’s not about the miracles, signs and wonders, nor about the confident preaching with great authority, nor about their popularity or the following that person attracts but about the glory given to our God.
1 Corinthians 2:4-5 ‘And my speech and my preaching [was] not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.’
